What's Scary?

I'm excited to announce that my second children's book is now available on Amazon and Kindle!

A little background about the book: the story began when my son asked me, "What's scary?" I asked him the same question, and he replied, "It's the lion on the carpet under my bed in my room."

This inspired me to create a children's book series, and this is the first installment.

The story follows Hans, a boy diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and his primary caregiver, Mom.

With the help of my illustrator, I've incorporated vivid dreams into the narrative to raise awareness about the various emotions and sensory challenges that individuals with autism experience daily.

Additionally, you'll notice the contrasts of colors throughout the book. In my observations with my son, I've found that he tends to relax more in dim or dark lighting compared to bright environments.

He has visual cues, such as the fear of the lion, imprinted on the carpet. When stressed or anxious, he may open and close doors and light switches. If sounds become overwhelming, he covers his ears.

We address these challenges by hugging him, calmly talking to him, and using a weighted blanket for sleep.

I am not an expert in this field; my insights are based on personal experiences. Nonetheless, I hope you gain something valuable from my understanding.

I dedicate this book to all special needs parents and neurodivergent children.

Let's spread autism awareness and promote inclusivity to change the world positively.
